Who am I? What is consciousness? Why am I able to reflect on my own existence? What is my purpose? These are questions I often find myself thinking about. Maybe too often. But they are questions that naturally arise when you realize that nothing in life remains the same. Every day you grow older. People come and go. Circumstances change. Your body changes.

Why try if life ends anyway?

Why have discipline? Why train? Why eat healthy? Why not just have fun? Why not: Go out every week, drink alcohol, smoke, eat fast food, live the nightlife, just enjoy while you can? That sounds logical, right? If life is short, why not just enjoy it to the maximum? But I started looking at it differently.

I don't just look at the moment but at what comes after

Yes, a night out can be fun. But what happens after? You come home, you ate poorly, you drank alcohol, you slept little. The next day: Less energy, less focus, less motivation, worse recovery, less mental clarity. And if that becomes a habit? Then it accumulates.

The realisation

Your body is not a toy. It is a biological system.

Your body works according to rules

A car needs fuel. Without fuel it stops. Your body works the same. You need: Nutrients, protein, sleep, movement, recovery. Every day you break down. Every day you build up. The question is: Do you help that process? Or do you work against yourself?

If you consistently eat poorly, sleep poorly, don't move, have a lot of stress? Then your body simply functions worse. That is not an opinion. That is biology.

Freedom does not mean everything is wise

Yes you can do what you want. But every choice has consequences. Everyone knows the feeling when you do something you know is not right. That inner compass exists. Also in how you treat yourself.

Discipline is self-respect

Discipline is not punishment. It is understanding how your body works. You build a house with good materials. Your body too. This is not a hype. This is biology.

Lack of time is often an excuse

Many people say: I don't have time. But how much time goes to: scrolling, series, aimless internet? 30 minutes of training per day can already make a difference. Not perfect. Just better.

Why I want to live consciously

Since I live consciously: more energy, less sick, stronger, mentally more stable. Not perfect. But better. That is discipline. Living more consciously.

Conclusion

Yes we are all going to die. But that is exactly why: Why not live life as well as possible? Not perfect. But conscious. Discipline is not a limitation. It is a way to get the maximum out of your life.
