Sometimes I think about something that is actually quite strange. That we exist. That we are here. That we can think about the fact that we exist. That alone I find special.

What is existence really?

What is existence really? What is being? You could say: it's molecules, it's atoms. But ultimately it all just is. Everything we see, everything we experience, it is there. And we are there too. But what exactly is that? I find that difficult to describe well. But the fact that we can think about our own existence, that I find special.

Everything seems to work according to laws

What also strikes me is that everything seems to work according to certain laws and systems. If you look at nature you see that everywhere. The earth rotates. The sun rises. Everything is in certain proportions that make it work. If you give a plant water it grows. If you throw something up it falls back down. Everything seems to work according to certain rules.

But you also see that in daily life. If you are late for work every time and don't do your job well, you can get fired. If you do your best and are reliable, you can grow. Those are also systems.

Discipline gives freedom

What I have come to see is that discipline gives freedom. If you work on yourself, you grow. You become stronger. You develop yourself. You learn to deal with situations. Because of that you can handle more. And if you can handle more, you have more freedom.

This also connects to what I wrote earlier

Working against the laws creates problems

What feels logical to me is that if you go against certain laws, that creates problems. If you steal and the police catch you, you lose your freedom. Then you see that you went against a system.

You see that with health too. If you eat unhealthy every day and don't take good care of yourself, you can get sick or become overweight. Then your freedom becomes less because your body can do less.

So for me it feels logical: If you work with the laws, your life gets better. If you work against them, you get problems sooner.

Working on yourself every day

What gives me a lot of satisfaction is the idea that you can work on yourself every day. You can grow. Physically. Mentally. As a human being.

Dealing with situations and emotions

You also learn to deal with situations. For example when people compare you to others. Or when your ego gets hit. Or when someone says something that doesn't feel fair. Then you have to learn how to deal with that. How do you stay calm? How do you stay stable? How do you control your emotions? Those are also things you learn when you keep growing.

You learn by doing

I have also learned that you can learn many things just by starting. A year ago I couldn't build a website. Now I have built PowerVita. By just starting. By looking for solutions. By keeping trying.

You also learn from others

But you don't only learn by doing things yourself. You also learn by listening to feedback. By learning from other people. By not being stubborn. If you think you already know everything, that you are the best and that you can't learn anything from others, then you will miss things.

Because I am convinced that you can learn something from everyone. Everyone has experienced different things. Everyone has different experiences. Everyone looks from a different perspective. By looking at other perspectives, you can expand your own insight.

Some people have gone through situations that you haven't experienced yet. If you can learn from that, you might not have to make those mistakes yourself. That way you can grow too. Not only by doing it yourself. But also by being open to what others have learned.

Important to remember

But keep thinking with your own mind. Don't accept everything blindly. But also don't dismiss everything immediately. Don't think: he knows nothing, he is stupid, I know better. That attitude causes you to miss things. What is important to me is to stay open-minded. Can you learn something from this? Could there be something in this? Is this true? And then investigate yourself. Test yourself. Think for yourself. That way you keep growing.

Growth is not just for yourself

What I have also come to understand is that working on yourself is not just for yourself. If you become stronger as a person, you can also mean more to others. If you have your own life in better order, you can help others better. If you are not stable yourself, that is more difficult.

So working on yourself not only helps yourself. It also helps the people around you.

Helping others grow

For example, I also made a fitness video for the company where I work. Not because I have to, but because I want the people around me to become healthier. That they are fitter. That they are sick less often. That they feel better.

I also feel honored that they asked me to make that video. And with great pleasure I did that. Because that is exactly what PowerVita stands for. Trying to be a light. Contributing in my own way to the happiness and quality of life of other people.

I actually want the people around me to have a better life. More energy. More positivity. Because this life is short. If you can help each other make it better, why not?

PowerVita for me

PowerVita is not just fitness for me. It is working on: strength, health, discipline, growth as a human being. Every day continuing to work on yourself and trying to become better.
